Building resilience in the Philippines
The causes of vulnerability in the Philippines is very many. The country is situated in Pacific ring of fire, making it highly dangerous to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, flooding and landslides. Rapid urbanization and deforestation further lengthen these issues, and infrastructure increasingly strained.
Responses to the challenges have been varied and multi-arranged. The goverment has had disaster risk reduction and management programs, such as the NDRRMC. Efforts also include strengthening infrastructure, improving early warning systems and engaging in community activities. Aid and collaboration have also played the significant roles in these problems.
Despite our efforts, and severe challenges. Coordination among different agencies and local governments can be difficult and inefficient.Resource issues and logistical issues often decrease the effectiveness of disaster response, this meant the most vulnerable populations receive the least support, most difficulty the overall resilience of affected communities.
